J. HERBIN AUTHENTIC INK: This ink, known by the French as ‘Encre Authentique’ is also often called ‘Lawyers Ink’. This black ink was used by French notaries to write official acts. Available in a 30ml/1 oz. bottle, it is best suited for nibs, glass or quill pens – NOT for fountain pens.
J. Herbin claims writing with this ink will remain legible for 300 years. It contains Campeche wood tannin for exceptional preservation. Water-based.
J. Herbin is the oldest name in ink production in the world. By 1700, the company was producing ‘l’Encre de la Tete Noire,’ followed by the ‘Perle des Encres’ (The Pearl of Inks) and ‘l’Encre des Vaisseaux’ (The Ink of Ships).
